Sammy is pushing the envelop due to their Exynos 5250 chip's ability to drive such a display and perform well at that. This could we be a strong differentiator in the tablet market although the price point would be much higher. Personally, I think 1920 X 1080 would be just nice for a 10 inch tablet considering the viewing distance (from screen to eyes).

Like I said ... "we're not there yet" and we'll never be if we won't make steps towards that direction. Eventually tablets would be a *lot* better readers than regular e-readers *because* of their capacity to go on the web properly (searching for papers, reading articles), reading is not just about books. Unlike most of the people in this thread I welcome this development, finally tablets are starting to become useful, 'till now they were mere toys...

Or you could get a e-reader for about $700 dollars cheaper than this beast will be. Either that or your vision is crazy good, however reading on a tablet should take care of that... Battery life+screen+wei ght will always give e-readers the advantage for just reading.

Wow, you serious? Tablets are in the process of replacing ebook readers. In fact 2560x1600 -even- is not big enough of a resolution since you can still make out the individual pixels that create the scene (barely but still) leading to straining after long hours of reading... Ultrabooks on the other hand can have little use of anything above 1080p since there is NO DIFFERENCE given how far away one stands from the screen in a laptop (compared to a tablet).
