Yeah, I turned all that off too, and have my FX-8150 OC'd to 4510MHz at 1.44V. I probably could've pushed it farther, but it's super stable at current settings. I read an article about overclocking which recommended turning off the AMD Cool and Quiet, which reduces clock speed to save power. It returns to stock clocks during load, but there is a latency which is completely unacceptable. About Trinity, it'll be interesting to see how much they managed to improve in Piledriver.

Low and midrange is where all the money is, so yea there is a use for these APU's. A lot of use. At the same time, AMD APU's are poop because the CPU and GPU share system memory. No ring architecture, or dedicated memory on-die holds it back. Hence the reason more system memory noticeably improves performance.

I just don't see where the apu goes from here? It's a low to low/mid performance product. It's not the sort of product that will be used for gaming other than casual browser stuff and good graphics power is only really needed for video playback...and tbh they have already got that...so where does it go from here? I know AMD are all talk about unifying the cpu/gpu memory space and running applications seamlessly on the cpu/gpu combo but the hardware for that is years away yet let alone the software...we are still waiting to see any major uptake of OpenCl...just ain't happening.

It's time for them to implement a proper gpu accelerated video converting system. Amd and Nvdia has been talking bout this for years, but to date the best case of gpu accelerated implimentation, has got to be intel quicksync. Amd if u can do a gpu acceleration on quicksync's level, then the laptop market would be effectively be yours.

cpu side I am very much unimpressed and can just nuke my a8 3530mx any way up to 3ghz stable. gpu side I am not surprised they will put something better in this time around after all some in amd have a nick name for this "devastator".
