I have to agree. AMD is not going any place. They just want to direct attention away from BD. To there more successful mobile chips. Intel need's AMD. Just like Microsoft needs Apple.

nice how youy pick the 2500k, when the fx8150 is actual the better of the two (then when you compare the platofrms the AMD one destroys the intel platform). in future pick the 2600, just to be on the safe side.

I think everyone is reading too much into AMD's latest statement. After all, this was a marketing guy. Marketing people tend to deflect criticism by focusing on a company's strengths. I highly doubt this one statement from a marketing guy means the end of AMD's desktop processor roadmap. They will continue to improve their architecture for servers, and releasing desktop versions only makes sense. More sales for minimal extra R&D cost is always a good idea. This is an attempt to get the press talking about Fusion vs. Intel more than FX vs. Intel. It is not a definitive statement of AMD's future product lines. Besides, Intel needs AMD to hobble along so that they don't get split up for monopolistic practices.

Wanted to run on my x8 slot for the looks, but x16 gave 10-20% better performance in my games. New multicore games seem like 3-4 cores to be magic number when tested. But u need headroom for background apps (avirus, msn, utorrent etc), so 6 cores would be great, but Intels 6core is too expensive Workplaces can FX be a good choice, writing article in Word doesnt matter, but rendering 3d objects/video editing u want more cores. Bad OC? Maybe same bad article I once read with bad clock speeds. This shows fine scaling: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/amd_fx8150/12.htm End note, you must be a retard to call me (and anyone else) AMD fanboy, I got both Intel and AMD based PCs at my home - and I sell computers and hardware 50/50 AMD/Intel

No, you won't. 16x/16x is not needed at all. Even 6990 runs fine on x4, go ahead and check youtube. Linus tested it not too long ago. Also, i5 2500K at 5 GHz eats FX8120 even with max OC. Why? They scale like shit. i5 2500K is even ONE YEAR ahead of FX8120. ROFL. So much for a octocore (aka. 4 core, hooray for AMD marketing dep) I love seeing AMD fanbois cry. Read those two links i posted again, please >:D

With competition the products evolves much faster too, thanks to both that we have the powerful CPUs we have today. Although I kinda wish AMD and Intel would try themself with the ARM/RISC processors and regain some of the market there.
