Sorry, but... I haven't had any ROM drives in my PC for 2 years now, have not had any problems. Everything I use is online, since it's easier, faster, etc. Otherwise I use memory sticks, network for @ home use or @ work. Can you clarify why you still use CDs and DVDs?

Once upon a time, I eagerly awaited having the means to abandon the floppy disk. Today, I look forward to abandoning CD/DVD media entirely. We're getting closer and closer. I look forward to abandoning this archaic medium.

The funny thing is that they let piracy work for them. Without piracy Windows could have lost that monopoly advantage years ago.... Anyway I installed Win8 on a virtualbox and it is terrible. You need huge amount of RAM a super fast SSD, a good gpu and a quad core to work it with virtualbox. I guess this is just virtualbox been ultra slow with this new OS but I am afraid that this could end up a huge fail making Millenium look good!

For such an important piece of software such as an OS I prefer to have a legit copy of the disk rather than downloading and burning my own copy, I don't trust download services for software, music or games like Steam or iTunes (unless I'm I'm getting something for free via promotions) if I have a retail disc I'll know it's the version I want, I wont have to rely on a download service to be on 24/7 or have my downloads interrupted by corruption, power outage, crashes etc etc, atleast I know where my Windows 7 disc is, it's in a big green Windows box, chances are I'm not going to lose it.

People will buy from shops as the MS prices in store are higher thought it should be opposite. If you check price for Win 7 OEM at your local IT retailer or big IT eshop you can find it cheaper than on MS site. If they drop the price, than it is another story.
