I agree with needing 2GB of GDDR(x; hopefully 5) and 4GB of system RAM. For the system RAM, I'd like to see DDR3L (1.35V), or even better, DDR3U, which uses 1.25V. I think the Xbox 1080 would have less issues causing a similar fiasco to what happened with the 360 models and RRODs.

I think the current xbox uses the same ram for both gpu and cpu.....very much as the llano uses system ram for its gpu portion. The 360 uses gddr for both system and gpu functions....I think.

The 360 has better graphics than the PS3. It has a good GPU. Hopefully this new XBOX will be scalable to keep up with the superior PC.

It's unlikely to be a hexa-core along the lined of Sandy Bridge E though. It might be another custom POWER-derivative, an ARM-based SoC or even something akin to an AMD A6. In either case it's likely to be both cheaper and less powerful than what we'd expect from hearing the word hexa-core.

MS/Sony know that the second they announce a successor the current gen sales will just die! The very earlist we will see a new console will be Xmas '12 so i think CES will be too early to kill the current console sales. I would think E3 is more likely and that's only if its this year. As for the spec, hex-core goes seem over kill, I would rather see a higher clocked quad-core, 2Gb system ram is enough, but 2GB Graphics RAM is a must for HD textures, Blu-Ray is also a must, it doesn't matter if MS comes up with a 'better' disk format people want to watch blu-rays on their consoles. As for the name, forget Loop, its going to be "Xbox 1080", MS toyed with Xbox 720 as its has so much publicity but 1080(p) has much better PR connotation.

I agree, hopefully Microsoft's attitude which resulted in Windows 7's far greater success will transfer to this. If I had to want one graphics related requirement it would be this.. 1080p graphics!

you're thinking about video memory... 2gb is plenty for ONE service (the game) and maybe a download in the background.. research this a little people. video memory on the GPU is what is needed for higher res and AA etc.

Funny to see Microsoft go with an AMD GPU. after having so many over heating problems problems with the Fat xbox. I guess it does insure that if the console is backwards compatible. I rather see MS go with 4GB of ram. 2GB is fine for today s games. But if you are going to be pushing higher resolution. And sharper textures you are going to need more then 2GB.
