Seeing how Intel copies AMD all the time (FACT), I would like to see AMD copy Intel for once, and take these high performance Trinity CPU's and make them into desktop chips, then call them Bulldozer II/Piledriver.

100W version? I couldn't care less. If I want a desktop, I'll stick in an Athlon x4 and a passive 6770, and get better performance and less noise for less money. Where llano REALLY shines now is in the mobile space. I'm typing on an A8, and there isn't a more power efficient gaming chip around. If Trinity can beat llano in the mobile space, it'll be awesome.

I like Amd as much as the next guy, but after phenom and now bulldozer, am not buying another Amd processor until they take back the performance crown. Their cpu performance goals are always low, and that's why they will fail, because they don't leave room for error. And this new CEO looks like a douce, who would just do what the board wants. Hector was the worst ceo Amd ever had,he ran Amd into the ground but the board loved him.Dirk did a good job,the only mistake under his watch was bulldozer, the Apu's now are his work,Ati is on par with Nvidia. Am amazed that people still have faith in Amd's cpu sector, my i5 2500 is a big jump over my phenom 965,wish i didn't waste 6 years waiting for a slower cpu.As long as southern islands come out that's all i want.

According to AMD, the L3 doesn't help very much in most desktop computing tasks. It helps out for servers and HPC, but AMD has decided to dedicate more die space to the GPU than wasting it on L3 cache. Trinity should be a very good chip. The higher clocks will help to outshine llano on the CPU side.

100W seams kinda hot for a chip that suppose to be a mobile part. Intel's i7m only has a TDP of 55 W tho the i7 lacks the GFX power this chip will have.

I'm not sure if you are serious Trinity might be based Piledriver core (which is basically slightly enhanced bulldozer). However it is going to use only two modules and lacks l3 cache (according to the latest reports). In other words it is a crippled piledriver processors with an integrated GPU It might match FX-4100 or maybe slightly faster (depending how much L3 cache impact the performance). However, unless you believe in magic it is not going to match the current i5 or i7 (let alone the upcoming ivy bridge)
