With 2GB? Are you kidding me? Even for gaming, that's ridiculous. Go pull half your memory out and tell me how well BF3 runs. "People that know how to use their computers"? What you really should say is "People that use their computers in my very narrowly defined manner". Let's see how that 4GB of memory deals with working on files shot at 60fps/4K RAW.

Depends what you do on PC but , IMO people that know how to use PC should be fine with just over 2GB of RAM. I have now 4GB there is no game there that needs close to 4GB. And i dont have 16 hands and 3 brains to work on 5-6 programs to NEED such huge amounts of memory... And in first place this is GAMING MBO, go server if u wanna more RAM.

A bit thick aren't we? This platform isn't for "99%" of users. Most of them are fine with a shitbox from Best Buy. This platform is for people that either must have the largest e-cock or people that actually do demanding stuff with their computers. Not to mention that it's a bit odd to step backwards in this industry. Tylersburg, by and large, always offered six DIMM slots. It's successor should offer the same or more. Since it's now a quad-channel memory controller, that means eight DIMM slots should be mandatory. The lower performance, higher volume stuff is available for people that don't need that level of performance.

[quote name="Naterm"]Anyone who ever says "X amount" should be enough for anyone really needs to reconsider how much they know about PCs. I'm using 4GB right now on a machine where nothing important is running. I routinely use more than 8GB of memory when running combinations of Premier, Photoshop, and a handful of VMs. First of all i said 99% of people won't need more than 16Gb for a good while but yes 1% of people have issues with closing programs down before they start the next one. you are running with 4Gb and coping, you have the chance to increase this by 300% to 16Gb and this is still not 'enough'? Plus 8Gb DIMMs will be available soon so 32Gb but no you need more don't you.

Notice the slot layout? That is what I like to see in an X79 board. All the slots are PCI-E and all are full length. There's no PCI slot to get in the way of having a nice ventilated gap between two high-end graphics cards using third party cooling solutions.
