Intel's response has always been to drop the price of current stock and introduce a new one slightly faster. The issue here is Intel has less models of of and i7 chips on offer compared to previous generation chips. Now with AMD giving a much wider range of FX chips, Llano chips, X6 chips and the traditional Phenons. There are wider choices for the market. This I consider an advantage to AMD. Also Fusion range for HTPC.

Well I hope all the raving fanboys have learned their lesson. Final reviews are out and the performance is exactly as horrific as we expected, with gaming performance being particularly bad. If you're an overclocker, you'd be crazy not to buy an i5 2500K and push the hell out of it, since Bulldozer's extreme power usage and poor frequency scaling means you can't overclock it very far without liquid nitrogen or something. Anandtech couldn't push their FX-8150 past 4.6Ghz on air. There's basically no one this CPU makes sense for. I'm bummed, because while I expected Bulldozer wasn't going to stand up to Sandy Bridge in general performance, I expected that at least it would have a commanding lead in workloads that can use all eight cores, but that clearly isn't the case.

lol....so lest me get this right, AMD have gone and manufactured BD with these feature in that allow them to cripple the early release samples so they can execute this contrived financial plan. On top of this they are risking ruining the launch of BD and the 6 years of R&D they have put into it to take a gamble on the stock market. Okay...that takes some swallowing....in my experience the simpler explanations are generally correct and not the contrived conspiracy theories. AMD stocks are tanking because BD is not what was hoped and the leaked benchies are probably a close reflection of BD's performance or lack there of.

well it's alright if you don't get it. But let me tell you this,4 dollars is the lowest the stock has ever traded. lost customers can return or new customers can show up. Even if the stock goes up by 1 dollars, it's a lot of money for someone who invest even a million. the stock would go back to 8 dollars that's what AMD's stock trades at on a regular basis, and that's a 100 percent increase from today. when you all the way down, their is no where you can go but up.

So AMD are not concerned by the fact that many thousands of people who were waiting on BD have gone and bought alternatives because of the bad press these leaked benchmarks have caused? There doesn't seem much point letting your share price tank at the expense of losing your customers, as without them your shares will be worthless. Clever answer but I doubt it is correct.

quite simple when you think about it. AMD is a company which trades on the stock market. The stock is tanking right now, giving half info is a way to sink the stocks on purpose, then buy up a lot of stock, then when bulldozer does well those stocks become worth a hell of a lot more than they are now. And it's perfect because Amd can just pretend that they were protecting their other products by not giving out information, and claiming that the cpu needed to be patched to run properly. Someone is going to make a tonne load of money on Amd's stock in the coming weeks.

^ you obviously have some divine insight....but tbh what you are saying makes no sense.....you say Intel know the story and are frightened, so what is the point of AMD crippling their samples?....is it just to make their prospective customers think their product is crap? Doesn't sound like a logical plan to me.
