Very true indeed, NVidia quad core A9's are quicker than any ATOM/E--- CPU it's just fact. It's a shame the X86 fans can't see this. When Win8 comes, things are going to heat up alot indeed. It will be very strange to see samsung, nvidia etc.. CPU's in Laptops/PC's.

@pogsnet A 3ghz arm is the same as a 1Ghz x86? Where did you get this info from? Which x86 CPU? When the muppet show spoke about the Cortex A15, he wasn't just making things up. The A15 will be 40% quicker than the current A9. The current A9 dual core @ 2GHz is the same as a dual core 1.66GHz Atom using 1/10 of the power. The A15 will use less power than the A9 and will be 40% quicker! A quote from ITProPortal "one can easily envision that a 4 core Cortex-A15 will shatter the 40K DMIPS barrier, putting it within touching distance of the AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE @ 43K DMIPS @ 3GHz" whilst being 1/10 of the power of a atom. So i think you will find that a 3GHz ARM will beat a 1GHz x86, not that there is any 3GHz ARM CPU's in use!

@muppet show It cannot match the x86 performance. Even 3Ghz ARM cannot win over 1Ghz x86. You know why check how complex an x86 architecture is, you will need 3-5 years to build new architecture while an ARM you will just need 1-2 yrs.

Lower TDP yes, but I seriously doubt that ARM cores will beat Zacate (performance wise), and let's not even mention GPU performance as well. ;-)

Couple things: 1. "...eminent extinction ..." should be "...imminent exctinction...". 2. Dicobalt - 18W for CPU + GPU + north bridge is decent when compared to an Atom solution, and more so when you comapre the graphics capability of the Zacate & Brazos to that of Intel's competiting offering.

That's a nice idea, but in the real word there aren't any x86 chips that offer similar performance at a better TDP. Intel certainly don't. ARM is a different matter. With the soon to be launched A15 (or even A9) quad-cores, you'll see chips exceed the E3/450 performance at much lower TDP. But then you won't be able to run Windows until W8 launches.

18W is way too much power draw for such a low end CPU. This thing should be under 10W at least.
