Don't know what typo you meant. I definitely meant to say 3D gaming vs 3D gaming. I was trying to highlight the confusion in terms at the moment where 3D gaming can mean just anything that imitates 3D, which games have been doing for a good few years now. Or it can mean the new tech which actually gives an impression of being 3D, like shutter glasses etc. The same terminology is used for both. And as such articles like the above can be confusing. That's my point. The terminology needs to be sorted out, so we know when people are taking about the gaming engines etc we have had up to now or 3D effect technologies.

You made a typo there, ph0b0s. Right now, even what you experience as 3D-looking is 2D as well, but something that uses a biological function to induce a false senses of depth perception. False is still false, 3D games are 2D, visually speaking. As to what 3D games vs 2D games is, and has always been to me, games where a user can move 3-dimensionally or games like Mario, 2-dimensionally. Pretty simple. It's nothing confusing as long as you focus on the discussion at hand, Mozilla won't add some new 3D vision technology so this should have given you idea about what 3D means.

Terminology fail. 3D gaming vs 3D gaming. The industry needs to sort things out as the above two terms even though the same, can mean two different things. One means technology whether hardware or software engines we have had up to now that makes that a 3d world even if only a 2D monitor. I.E Unreal engine and GPU's. The other means technology that can make a world that is on a 2D surface look like it's actually in 3d. I.e shutter glasses, etc. So the above article is about you being able to make more advanced web games than just the 2D flash things we have seen up till now. It is not about having an engine that can deal with 3D content on the web. That's different, even if it does not seem it with the terminology used.
