@evolution8 So are you justifying the pricetag of $1k? Or are you agreeing with me that its too much? Yes the perfomance gain is there but the ivy bridge (tock) is around the corner too.

Oh God, do the math! Sandy Bridge has a IPC performance boost of 15% per core, that's why the 990X with its 6 cores which is about 50% more cores, is only about 30% faster in multithreaded applications compared to Sandy Bridge. I SAID 15% PERFORMANCE PER CORE COMPARED TO 990X! Read this review and do some math. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/17 According to Intel's claim of 60% more performance in multi threading performance compared to 990X, would means that if its clocked to 3.40GHz, it would score about 7800 points in POV 3.6 Multithreaded which is no small feat. In case of Cinebench MT, 36600. Learn to pay attention to detail.

So let's call you 15% per core a constent that means its an overall 15% increase overall 6vs 6 cores? Westmere is a 2 year old architechture! A 15% gain is significant to you? After 2 years? Well it is significant but not that much! If priced @ 1000 bucks won't be worth it vs 2700k/2600k
