Generally those who come with their bring back XP opinion are a select few who think they represent the majority. They are also generally people who don't dare to try anything new and are still running XP. Those who claim Win 8 is too touch orientated should consider that they know nothing about Win 8. There have been talks of a dual UI etc and fact is almost nothing is known about it except for some of the stuff available for tablets. Keep your knickers on and wait till all the facts are known.

Have you actually tried using XP with 256MB of RAM? Perhaps 10 years ago when it first came out maybe, not not anymore with 10 years of updates and Service Packs have added a lot to it. RAM is cheap, the argument that Win7 uses more RAM is pointless, it may well do, but it also uses RAM far more efficiently than XP did. The whole point of RAM is it is there to be USED! Win 7 is smart enough when to free up RAM and when to use it for apps you commonly use. XP can't!

XP supports drives larger than, that was a pretty lame and misleading tactic; XP also supports all the features removed in Vista here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_features_removed_in_Windows_Vista ...and features further removed from 7 here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_features_removed_in_Windows_7 XP is customizable whereas 7 is not. XP boots to under 200MB of RAM used whereas 7 sucks up 800MB, both clean installs. You can argue all day that 7 is better but I'm the one who can back what I say up.

u did not get mine nor JAB message, I did not say it's wrong, it's good but NOT great and what JAB meant to say was: he want W8 to be simple and fast as XP without AERO and other useless things... XP can handle drives larger that 137GB, it's some mobos that can't handle drives larger that 2TB,is that what u meant to say?

The only way Windows 8 won't suck is if it's XP + Aero + all the crap disabled by default that the more intelligent of us here disable when we do an install (pagefile, useless animations, useless delays (start menu), Superfetch and half of the Windows services. Otherwise it's time to install Linux on people's machines. I've seen Microsoft Word refuse to open it's own files and then see LibreOffice (fomerly OpenOffice) open those files without any problem.
