These guys really think that MS's corporate dominance will end with XP? Windows has graced the desktops of the corporate world for 26 years. There not going anywhere. And where are these corporations going to go? Apple i don't think so. Mobile devices Maybe well on the go. but the bulk of corporate work will still be done on windows desktops. The company i work for we been running Windows7 on most of our computers for some time now. And the few XP system we still have running will continue to do so till they die.

The future for microsoft actually looks really good, if they can pull off some apple like marketing. Office 365 Windows 8 ~coming to tablets and has a touch first start menu Office 13? IE 10 Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Mesh, skydrive At worst corporations move to tablets running Win 8, or computers running Window thin client. I mean when they retire Windows XP totally it will be 14 years old, also known as 1,000 years old in computer years, is it any wonder all of these websites are getting hacked, how many are still using win xp

Having worked in several large corporate telecoms I can say there is no way that employees there could use a keyboardless computer with a tiny 10 inch screen. A lack of corporate management software for non windows systems is also a huge problem.

don't think so, if u are used to XP u should have no problem to use Vista,w7 etc, Microsoft made them to be almost the same, better graphic interface of Vista,w7 does't make difference so there's no need to retrain emploeeys.I'm sure w8 won't be any different.

These analyst idiots also didn't take into consideration the amount of money and man hours its going to take to retrain most people to use a new OS. Most people have been using Windows for 15 years now and they still barely understand how to use their PC's.

Two valid points made in these comments : 1) there will be a need for Excel, Word etc with large monitors 2) that need will be reduced because lots of companies are moving to browser based applications. The end result will be that MS will lose maybe 20% (max 30%) of the coporate desktop to browser based "x" machines. They will still rule the other 70-80%

if xp really gets retired than there will "hopefully" be better support for vista and 7 drivers/plugins etc...it is time for xp to retire ,even new storage hdd and ssd drives, and some games don`t offer full xp support, people with xp should really consider upgrading ..
