Yeah Marvel and DC but i don't think you can copyright a person's name, certainly not something like Wayne and also when something like this is used in a totally different area of business then i don't think you need permission, its not like nVidia are starting a new comic with these names, they are just code names for computer products, they aren't making money for using these name so i think there wouldn't be a case. Just as if you wanted to call you child 'Kal El' DC couldn't stop you.

@dan Yes you are probably right there are better chips making use of the ARM tech but i just love nVidia naming scheme on these! On saying that though, i really think that Kal El should be the pinnacle of their chips, next down should be Logan, then Stark then Wayne. Any thoughts for what Medfield could be called? Robin? Jubilee? I've got it, Galactus! They just go around sucking up the competition and bring over priced misery to millions of worlds/people.

this will compete against not just ARM chips but ARM chips from manufacturers like Nvidia, dumping first-rate graphics into these chips. Intel, bless their heart, doesn't have first rate graphics anywhere in their arsenal. Microsoft bailed on x86, that should tell you what this comparison looks like behind the scenes.

Don't bank on Nvidia's ARM chips showing off the full potential of Eagle cores -- look to TI, Samsung, Apple and Qualcomm for that. But essentially, you're right. Intel has no chance with a 32nm Atom, the power consumption will still be too high. 1W is not good enough, it has to be low milliWatts to compete with ARM.

I've said it before but its x86 will only really work at 22nm and smaller. I can't see 32nm cutting it. I am sure Medfield is a massive improvement but they were a massive amount behind ARM too. I would predict up against the likes of Kal El it will hold its own but Kal El is a short stop gap until Wayne, A15 based, at 28nm will show it's head and wipe the floor with Intel, putting them back at square one. The only thing Intel and x86 had going for them was in Tablets and Netbooks so you could run 'real' Windows but with Windows 8 ARM are in the Windows club so it will just be a straight fight between performance and power consumption and Intel will not win that in 2012.
