Actually, no rumor said 512MB; they said at least 512MB, which probably meant they had no real idea.

"The Radeon R700 is the engineering codename for a graphics processing unit series developed by Advanced Micro Devices under the ATI brand name. The foundation chip, codenamed RV770, was announced and demonstrated on June 16, 2008 as part of the FireStream 9250 and Cinema 2.0 initiative launch media event,[4] with official release of the HD4800 series on June 25, 2008. Other variants include enthusiast-oriented RV790, mainstream product RV730, RV740 and entry-level RV710." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_R700 dude... though compared to the old gpu used on the ps3 and x360 it is order of magnitude faster given that wii u use the top of the line of the series (which should be the case).

Its funny about your article because its conflicting with another post on this site from another author. He writes that the gpu is based on the southern-isle, radeon 7000 series, and your saying its a 4000 series gpu. So whos write? Also it has been confirmed on some websites that the cpu is based of the wattson super computer cpu and not the power 6. And if i remember right the old rumors for the wii u was it was suppose to have 512mb now its 1GB? And finally didn't TSMC cancel 32nm so its impossible for the gpu to be a t 32 nm?. With so many holes in your article it seems more like a rumor and gossip post.

I cannot believe you write for a hardware website!!! After writing about the hardware specs(Most of it is from fake spec releases), also your colleague article http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/23000-new-nintendo-wii-u-has-amd-radeon then saying it "even though from a technical perspective it does not offer much more in the way of power than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3" like WOW!!! its like saying a pentium 4 ht 3 Ghz is about the same level of power as the core i7 2600k 3.4 Ghz heres some real articles you should read http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2011/6/7/nintendo-launches-new-console-can-wii-u-repeat-the-wii-surprise.aspx http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Wii-U-IBM-Power-Radeon-SOI-Project-Cafe,news-11446.html

It doesn't work like that, you pin-point a time-frame and realistically define what is achievable by then, what will be available and what can or can't be made. If you do more, Kudos! But you can't hurt the entire project.

lol, nice summery Broomstick777! I am suprised that the GPUs are not 28nm given space, cooling and price are such important factors for consoles and we are talking 2012 release date. You would even say it makes sense to plan the release date around when the tech is ready, rather than choose a release date and see what tech you can put in.

A 32nm R700 based card that's not "much more from a technical perspective" than what's in the PS3 and the 360?.. Who want's to bet how much of the rest of the article is accurate?
