I'm not actually sure you are correct, I know the pixel refresh on plasmas is very fast but that does not mean they are equipped to deal with a 120Hz signal input.

^ interesting....in that case most plasma tv's would be 3d capable...but they are not...perhaps it is just that they lack the hdmi 1.4a input connection but internally would be able to deal with 3D?

That's partly due to the prevalence of plasma TVs, which refresh at hundreds of Hz. But there's no such thing as a"120Hz input." Any TV/monitor can accept a 120Hz signal, it just may not be able to display it at 120Hz.

There seems to be more TV's that can accept a 120Hz input than there are monitors....a situation that surprises me as 3d has been available on pc for several years.

Can we please have TVs that accept 120Hz input already? Stupid slow mass-market hardware...

There are very few console games that run at 1080p as it is. I'm guessing they'll need to sacrifice a lot of image quality just to get 3D available at 720p. I'm also guessing that this is just an experiment to see how people respond to it, before doing it properly at 1080p on the next gen consoles.

I'd like 3D, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice 1080p for it. :sigh: But, meh, I'm a PC game-player anyway. (WUXGA)
