considering that many more people 'just want the option' then actually go ahead and make a dual gpu setup, this will probably mean AMD can sell more CPU's more so then nvidia selling more GPU's. but if bulldozer ends up faster then intel in games, nvidia doesn't want to be stuck on just the intel platform when multi-gpu setups are being tested.

this is about the 990 series chipsets. they will be released together with AMD's new high end bulldozer CPU, which is a whole new architecture. you are being thumbed down because nothing to very little to known about the new AMD CPU's gaming performance, but indications are that it should be bringing some much needed competition back to the high end. AMD is doing everything it can to make sure gamers are going to seriously consider getting a AMD cpu instead of a Intel, and having SLI support is a important step in gaining acceptance.

As long as am-dung'S chips suck, this will do little good as Intel has both SLI and Crossfried as well with their boards. This just allows Nvidia to sell more cards!

Interesting development I have to admit. Did not see this coming. But power to the consumers I suppose, which is always a good thing. The death of Lucid Hydra?

Its cool dont get me wrong, but it seems like amd is shooting themselves in the foot possibly. they are giving consumers another reason not to buy there cards for crossfire! HEY BUY OUR CPU BUT WELL LET YOU USE THE COMPETITION'S CARDS...OR they'll sell more boards and cpus by giving the option...either way.. given that, honestly, amd cpu's dont fair as well as intel when it comes down to serious gaming, why would someone putting 500-1000 bucks in cards in sli want to go with amd anyway? i guess only having 20% of the cpu market makes people desperate. to whomever is downvoting me, try giving a reason, you cant argue against the truth?-2 still no response -5! http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/intel_corei7_2600k_and_corei5_2500k/12.htm -7....no response

wrong. its always been nvidia that's been difficult about supporting SLI on other chip-sets. if they wanted it supported on any chip-set all they had to do was add it to the white-list in their drivers, or removed the check all together. there is nothing to SLI in terms of chipset support except the check in the video-drivers. it was always all up to Nvidia. all AMD did was not wanting to pay up to be added to the white-list, and rightly so. that wasn't to much of a problem for nvidia considering current AMD cpu performance in games. but it seems they expect that to change with bulldozer.

+1 Agreed The point is, money and market-share they will lose, if they wouldn't support that platform! With direct selling of GPU and XFX is a little bit other situation. "It looks like you won't have to abandon your Nvidia card if you are waiting for some AM3+ fun after all." Hm... way to abandon "YOUR CARD"? if cards may be, and after all if high end, 590 with 2xGPU its not a problem, without SLI support, SLI just solution for 2x/3x/4x cards, but its the hell rare to see such configuration And if you have the money and buy an ASUS Asus Crosshair V Extreme, you could use AMD+nVidia on the same MB! 5$ for nothing - just my opinion!!! Funny to see 2 Green logos :-)
