continued......sell me a cheap core2 and a single 580 and im good, no one is benefiting from super cpu's unless you have multi gpu, which is a slim market share...

lets talk about what everything is really worth here. i have an i5 760. i previously owned a e5400. i strayed away from SB because of faulty mobo's, now sb has a chip better than mine for 20 bucks cheaper.... my chip is still the same price! wtffffff... i dont get it... my chip is damn good, so no problem there...why dont old chips get cheaper? core2quad is still more expensive than i5's.... what gives? we can talk about this all day long and if you just wait 2 months you can something better for cheaper????? intel or newegg needs to change up some pricing....when it comes to gaming, which is all a new cpu is honestly good for, a core2 competes with the best of them when it comes to single gpu.....desktop comps are losing market share to tablets ...etc..

This is good news indeed... although, I really am looking forward to this fall. Hopefully we will get some x68 goodness "The new LGA 1366" (assumed codename).

Typical comment of the uninformed. First of all Intel has designed *one* chipset and then fuses off sections to artificially segment the price and market. Second, ECC memory hardly costs more than regular memory these days. Socalled "overclocking" memory costs a lot more. Why would you want ECC memory? Considering that 8GB+ is fast getting to be the norm today, and the more memory the higher the likelihood for errors, why *wouldn't* you want ECC memory. Especially since support is already in all of the hardware.

and why would average Joe need ECC memory support?average user dont need this, its costly, and its not usefull for home user, there will be (is) server boards with all those things,so why Intel should do this with home users?totally pointless

Only Intel manages to drum up so much interest in a chipset, which isn't artificially limited. This is the exact same chipset as the P67 and the H67 (as well as the other 6 series chipsets), only with less circuits fused off. It still doesn't enable ECC memory support in the CPU's memory controller. You need a C2 series chipset and a "Xeon" for that.
