who cares about dx11, we can all agree though that a 6850 or even 5770 would have bin a better choice but the the fusion chips would have bin the best choice!

Does it really need DirextX 11? I mean, its not on a microsoft paltform. Is that not what the Nintendo SDK's are for? Tessellation is a good example. All Ati cards from 2000 and on have hade the capability to do it, but is just now getting mainstream adoption.

Most of this info has been published about a week ago on French tech website 01net. IGN (and now you) only repeated what they said, a week later, and without even quoting them. IGN (and now you) should be ashamed for pulling such a dirty and ridiculous trick. They didn't credit the French for the codename, then they progressively revised their "info" about the controller to fit the French report, and now they give us THE SAME specs without even quoting them again ? This is disgusting and an insult to those who have followed this subject from the beginning. Go tell the tech junkies at NeoGAF that IGN broke the specs, and see how they welcome you. 01net was also the first website in the world to provide complete and accurate specs for the Sony NGP, hence their credibility.

R700? That's disappointing. At this point they might as well put a DX11 GPU in. Kinda fed up with console-port games, beats the point of having an rather expensive gaming PC. Game developers should focus on PC-gaming, since it has the most potential graphics wise. But I guess it's a lot cheaper and easier to just design games for consoles, which have about the horsepower of a 3-4 year old PC.

Brilliant opportunity! Nintendo is trying to stay relevent! Nintendo positioned the Wii as a kids only, family, party machine, and not a hardcore gaming machine. Its taking its toll. The hardcore gamers and devs are turning their backs on the Wii and this Wii refresh will give the Wii the power and true multi-media capabilities of its two rivals, or maybe a little bit more. The Wii and PS3 are only 4 or 5 yrs old! No company wants to play their hand early on the new next gen. So when that time comes Nintendo will be right there with yet another new console!

Like I said, they guessed at the specs, they said they didn't know what the specs were, but said that R700 seemed likely, also Trinity should have a 7550 inside of it, slower than the 4800, but with DX11 and tessilazation. Though Nintendo no doubt will customize the chip some, so I would guess the actual specs would fit between 7570 and 7650(around HD4800's power), which should still be light years beyond the ps3/360, but diminishing returns will also take effect as well. Hopefully They do use a custom Fusion chip and code name it Triforce, so we can all geek out.

Just so everyone is clear, the information in this article came from a French website known for having leaked the NGP's specs before it was announced. I should also note they they said it would have at least 512MB. They don't know an exact amount; it could easily be higher. 1GB makes sense, based on the power.

If it uses a low-end card, then it makes sense. I doubt that Nintendo can use a 4800 GPU with a die shrink. The customizations would drive the price too high. This console can't exceed $350, and Nintendo definitely plans to sell it at a decent profit, so they probably cheap out in almost everything. It controller alone would cost at least $25 to make. (The Wii Remote costs $6.)
