I probably shouldn't be feeding you but alright, I'll bite. I'll use the more extreme example, S^3. USB OtG, FM transmitter stack, VoIP stack, HDMI out, superior media codec support (including Matroska), lean and quick multi-tasking, BT mouse and keyboard support... A personal favorite would also be not being locked to the propriety Zune software suite to do, well, anything. Android is less extreme in many regards but on the other hand it doesn't suffer from the UI legacy issues in the way S^3 does either. So no, WP7 isn't up to standard when it comes to technical merits. Even its main attraction, the UI, is very polarizing when it comes to opinions.

Technical merits of Android? What are those? Copying iOS as much as they could without inviting quick and easy litigation? Symbian? That [censored]ing dinosaur? Symbian is a byzantine mess of stuff cobbled onto an OS that really wasn't designed for it. Tech Douche, think Tech Crunch.

I hear so many bad stuff about MS Win 7 mobile but to be honest id rather take MS than Google or Apple, UPDATES can do wonders for MS. I never liked that Android is from Google..

Not really, no. It still lacks the technical merits of the likes of Android, or Symbian, while having all of the lock-in factor of iOS. Neither is something that goes down well with the "techdouche", as you put it, crowd. WP7 isn't horrible by any means but it's too much like iOS and the largest response it seems to evoke is a shrug.

Honestly, if this operating system had been developed by a start-up, it would be the darling of the Gizmodo/Wired/techdouche crowd. But since it has Microsoft stamped on it, it will never be cool. It's honestly a pretty thoughtful design. Apple's iOS is still hooked into the old desktop PC design (rows and columns) and Android is nothing more than a copy of iOS. Microsoft actually is trying to do something new and I think it works quite well. As for the phones, none of them interest me.

Poor Microsoft ~ Poorer Nokia ~~ I'm a .Net developer & a Win Mobile user myself. I think Microsoft imitate Apple TOO MUCH. It's very hard to create identity for 1 OEM from another. Functional aside, you just can dev something MS want it to look like. And my deep condolence to Nokia who take the lifetime membership.

"Take the HTC 7 Trophy for example. It is a pretty sleek device, in fact it is one of the best looking HTCs around and it also has an impressive spec sheet. Qualcomm 1GHz processor, 512MB of memory, 8GB storage, 3.8-inch 480x800 capacitive touchscreen – all this can be yours for a measly €179. The phone launched with a €399 MSRP, so now it is nothing short of a bargain." Looks like a bit of a bargin.Except i ended up with an Orange San francisco AK (ZTE blade) at £90.Unlocked and upgraded to Android 2.2(J.J. 9)for Free on the MODOCO web site. That's even more of a bargain.

Of course, but it is still nowhere near Android or iOS in terms of penetration or app availability. The really sad thing is that it's really not a bad OS, but Microsoft just cocked up - I guess they were in a hurry to introduce it and they left out a bunch of features that should have been in there since day one.

price cut is something everyone will like, including the other os fanboys lobbyists etc , price cut is something that no body can oppose! one thing to be noted that this could be to pressure nokia , as all know nokia always comes up with a reasonable price in the market , and to be honest the phones are somewhat rightly priced now!!
