From manufacturing and shipping alone the wasted petroleum is unrecoverable, and it's not something to neglect... it's a lot. Trees on the other hand grow in a 100 years back... you just have to have a conscience and go and plant some each year for nature's sake.

Actually the industrial revolution occurred more than 200 years ago and right before that the same problems were put. Machines were starting to take on man's job and role in the economy. The major difference is that back then the people had lots of alternatives to start other types of work, but now most of production is done by Asian sweatshops under really awful condition, which is also the reason the US got here. Cheap devices made using cheap labor will render costly in-comparison jobs in the US financially nonviable. The US Government should stop allowing all kinds of imports and give the US citizens a chance to earn a living.

His comments really read like a complaint of the steam drill or any machine that improved productivity at the expense of class Z jobs. As to the price of tablets being overpriced... frankly it is a fairly nebulous issue. One can compare them to a netbook assuredly, or one can compare them to smartphones. If you look at the price of top-of-the-line phones such as the iPhone, or others by Samsung, HTC, etc, the price isn't really that far off, and it offers a much larger screen and quite different experience. Complaining that kids/people don't use them to the utmost of their abilities is to ignore that many don't make the most of their smartphones and computers as well, such as mostly multimedia, browsing and gaming.

And a little over 100 years ago most people were farmers, does this mean to say that we are without food today? Without a change, a displacement of jobs into different sectors provided by technology and mass production, we would never be able to have the things we have today, all the gadgets and computers out there. I personally cannot support Apple, since they are like the gestapo, a very closed company. But aside from that, I love the idea of tablets, or more over: the portable devices market. They have grown over the last 5 years to where they are now for a reason.
