Price bah! The author and the rest of you people don't know what the hell you're talking about. There are $800+ iPads and they sell. This and others are mere "pretenders" and are seen as such. So far EVERY "pretender" has flopped in the face of Apple who invented the Pad. People know it. Brand loyalty and brand quality make people want this pad. EVERYTHING else seems second rate, and is.

I bet if they cut a couple hundred off the price tag, they'd sell noticably better.... It's gotta be better to sell more at a lower profit margin per unit, than keep the higher price and not sell enough to even pay for the development of it (at least, I'd imagine.) Perhaps, it's so overpriced they broke even at 100k units, but I highly doubt that...

successful computer hardware sold because of a "killer app." desktop computing became successful because of spreadsheet software. Xooms glitchy os could be forgivable if the Xoom had a function that people could identify. Xoom came to market without a "killer app" therefore it flopped. People would pay the high price for the Xoom if it served some sort of purpose. Ipad is functional because of the software available to it.
