So few people upgrade their desktops. It makes little to no impact on the sales figures. The few things people do upgrade on desktops, namely just RAM, can be upgraded on laptops too. You need to get out of your little enthusiast box and see how the real world works. Read The Register or something.

Mobile computing is the future, you just don't accept it because it doesn't fit in with your ideology. No one under the age of 30 wants a desktop these days, no one. Unless maybe it's an iMac. Desktop sales are being held up by companies refreshing ancient, XP hardware for machines running Windows 7. Look at the market trends of the last 20 years. It's all leading towards, smaller, mobile systems and away from desktops. Smartphones, tablets, netbooks laptops. You think all this cloud services talk is for desktops? Of course it isn't, they have enough surplus resources to handle most anything. Mobile devices by and large do not.

i think hardware and software complets each other and thats why the iphone, ipad and the ipod is so popular. so tegra cant be succesfull untill andriod and windows mobile 7 gets matured and have a gazillion of apps like iphone does . in the end i love competition because i always get the best prices so i wish nvidia the best of luck to succeed in their mission hehe :)

Desk to sales 38.6 million units. Laptop sales 38.5 million units. http://laptoplogic.com/news/laptop-sales-exceed-desktop-sales-globally--20319 Factor in that people upgrade there desktops lowering desk top sales. And the unaccounted enthusest PC market. i don't see a trend here. And like i said before. Just because people are buying some thing like crazy. Does not make the future of tech.

Mobile computers are the present, laptops are more popular than desktops these days with consumers. That trend is only continuing into the future. I see no reason, other than an end to Moore's Law, that wouldn't allow the following scenario in ten years time. Instead of having a desktop or a laptop, you just have a mobile phone sized device. When you're at work or at home, you can plop it on your desk and it hooks wirelessly to a display(s), keyboard, and mouse. When on the move, you could use it like you use a touch phone now or maybe have a rollable display and larger input device. I could see that technology in ten years, definitely fifteen. I love big, powerful desktops too, but they're not the future.
