Go on TPU... W1z blew one in a slight over-voltage attempt, he also talked to other reviewers and this happened to them as well. So people, if you really need to buy one be very careful or you'll end up like one of those unfortunate BFG customers, with an expensive paperweight and the paper that says we can't RMA your card.

He took the "rumor" bait... the price given by the Chinese was 6500 yuan per piece for 1000 pieces a batch, that wasn't an inflated retail price and this, the price drop could also be seen as a rumor until the cards land on the shelves.

So the rumoured price. was higher then the actual price. And you saying there was a price drop. Also there is a bench mark. In AVP the 6990 gets 81 FPS. And the GTX 590 gets 105 FPS. The 6990 my end up being better tho because of a bigger frame buffer. Nv shoud hav added that extra 1 GB of ram

If Fermi were a technological breakthrough on those other fronts aside performance - consumption and temperature, one could expect the nvidia dual gpu offering to wear the fastest card crown card as well, alongside the single gpu. But given the 580 already maxes out itself in single gpu state, you had to seriously be lacking brain matter to think that the dual would rule as well.

@63jax I agree it was allways like this. when a company has a unbeatable card it will be priced high as hell. And when a company prices a card low in adwanced then the compay, in this case Nvidia knows that the reviews will be bad. The same thing did AMD whit the 6970 when they had numbers from the 580. If they cant win the performence crown then they go for Price/performence. But its allwejs like this: A customer hears that a company has the fastest High end card and thinks: ok then the mide range cant be bad either. So the High end has a impact on mide range and so one.
