PS4: I don't believe Sony will drop PS3 support and the only real way to get PS3 games to run smoothly on the PS4 will be to use a similar chip. While IBM dropped the CELL chip as a stand-alone CPU but they have integrated all that was good from the CELL into their new PowerPC-8 chips. CPU: PowerPC 8 (variant) GPU: nVidia Maxwell (variant) - OS will be on a small SSD - Media on Blu-Rays - 4GB DDR3/4 RAM - Large HDD as we move towards downloadable content & games I know most people will hate this but i would personally like to see the end to the 2nd hand games market as this must be having a massive impact on new sales numbers and low numbers translates into cheap shit games!

Xbox720: Althought MS seems to be getting into bed with ARM i don't think they can make a high-end console from ARM parts, maybe they scale well i don't know but i think Xbox will go all Intel this round. Depending on release dates: CPU: Intel Haswell/Rockwell (variant) (you would think 8-core but would games use all 8? i think they would benefit more from a more aggressively clocked quad-core, maybe 6GHz if we are at 22nm/16nm.) GPU: Intel Larrabee/Knights Ferry (possibly a controversial choice but the amount of money Intel has spent and still is spending on GPUs they are desperate to break into this field, consoles are the obvious choice) OS will be on a small SSD Media on Blu-Rays 4GB DDR3/4 RAM Large HDD

I would have to disagree with you there my friend. When consoles first come out they are often more powerful than anything you can actually buy for the PC yet. PS3 was an 8-core super computer. ok it turned out you can't program it for shit but still had advanced XDR memory and a so-so nVidia GPU. The xbox360 has a triple core CPU when dual was fairly high-end, with a very advanced ATi GPU with 10mb on-board cache and tessellation capabilities long before PC GPUs had them. So, who is up for speculating what the next gen hardware will look like?

i agree with you guys about the console market draw holding back the pc market, but only to a certain extent. high end games on pc aren't great sellers because no one really has the set up to run them to the max. so i can see why companies cling to the idea of saving the console. i was worried that crysis would be held back on the pc, but it's good. not quite what i expected but 580 eats it up, i'm just glad it wasn't that dx9 demo. my brother is a big ps3 fan, and i have one for bluray. i always bash the graphics compared to my pc but i'm gonna be honest, i saw him playing killzone 3 and although it's not 580 graphics, it was amazing for a console and i can't see any more being squeezed out of something that old, let alone the 360. next gen will still fail horribly to pc. oh well.

How very strange that a market which is, according to you, "dead" takes share after share of the PC gaming market. I'm a PC gamer and I don't like that development, but it's foolish to close your eyes to the fact that consoles are taking over due to having more profit in game production.

Lol what about the next nitendo console? That's a possibility to launch sooner the later. The wii only caters to casual players! Expect nitendo to probably the 1st with next gen console. With accesories like the Move and Kinect, less people will want to play wii anymore!
