That depends. Investors might have a more economical background than a technical one. So from their view, things didn't go as fast as it was needed. Fact of the mater is that some of the tech AMD put out recently and will do is delayed, obvious a lot of people scream about it since Fusion was announced when, in 2007? Another point might be the lack of the ability to capitalize on intel's failures. We saw an article recently that said AMD got more orders, but then a commenter posted an insight from one of the largest suppliers in the country which stated something else. Bits a pieces that as an investor wouldn't make you trust someone that doesn't have insight in these things. Let the engineers handle the tech part and the CEO the business.

Yes and No. I find it interesting that the Board of Directors moved so fast in an unprofessional manner to remove Dirk so quickly after all the hard work he put into the company as CEO. I am sure another CEO will do a good job; it just boggles my mind among many others why AMD would remove Dirk especially when we all know he’s very smart and has a lot of technical and architectural knowledge of the business. I believe AMD’s investors felt comfortable with Dirk. How about now?

+1 and these are the things that makes us see on marketing we see today from AMD. It's fun to say something simply 'sucks', but I have to agree here. It ain't enough that 1 side is good while the deciding side blows it over.

This company is in dire need of resources and on the other side you have bureaucrats leeching the company in this way??? This just makes me sick. I'll say it once again: AMD has great engineers and great products (except for K10), but their management SUCKS!!!! :-x

Dirk has worked for decades for AMD and has well deserved those few bugs , compared to other manager his Fine aint that huge at all . A sad news - i feel like those who put him there are making the same mistake just like with Hector Ruize , but this time the other way around....

Heck, even $1 to $2 million is more than enough for goodness sakes. Anyway I think AMD is going to regret pushing Dirk Meyer out of the CEO chair and out of AMD completely. He stuck with the businesses basic core strengths and made them stronger competitively while still making good profit. Dirk Meyer brought AMD back into the light. We can thank him for the Bulldozer Architecture among a few others when he served AMD as CTO back in the day. AMD’s past CEO Hector Ruiz was positioning AMD for failure. The only really good think Hector Ruiz did for AMD IMO is buy out ATI. He wasn’t even responsible for the Hammer Design back in the day that was under CTO Dirk Meyer’s watch.
