Yes, like the GameCube... How well did that sell again? The ideal situation would be a $350 console with "next-gen" (DX11-like) graphics which comes with both improved motion controls and a traditional controller, with the games priced at $50. Add in XBL-like online, even at a small fee (no more than $30/year ideally) and compatibility with SATA-II HDDs, and both Sony and Microsoft would really have to struggle against it. Unfortunately, this will never happen.

i believe, even if wii went to hd, the platform itself is outdated. i have the kinect and it collects dust and is way better than the wii, camera, no controller, etc. they need to release a normal hd console for revenue and focus on the future of gaming, 3d, etc.

Careful observer will notice that, even with all the arguments above, Nintendo always manages to beat Sony's and Microsoft's behinds... the reason is quite simple - they do not focus on numbers, they focus on fun. That's why everyone keeps buying it. Between number of shaders and pure fun, I know what I'd choose each and every time!

Which is why they can't make a powerful console. They need to keep it cheap. Either way, chances are that we won't see another Nintendo console after their next one.

Everything before the Wii was competitive graphically, and that stopped working for them. Going back to a traditional console and selling it at a loss would be suicide. They can't compete with Microsoft and Sony directly as it stands. Maybe they could if they start totally fresh and abandon everything they have now, but that wouldn't make any sense to do. They are going to continue their current strategy with their next system, just like they're doing in the handheld market with the 3DS.

Yea, youre probably right but whats about the Gamecube, wasnt it powerful for that time, so there is a chance that they use high tech to sell their stuff again. Selling an other Wii just with better graphics doesnt sound very promising.

Except that, unlike Warrior, I'm right. Nintendo can't possibly release a console with "next-gen" graphics without selling it at a loss, and Nintendo has never sold at a loss, nor would they gain much from doing so in their current state. I know how everyone wants a console with better graphics to come out so that PCs won't be held back anymore, but Nintendo isn't going to be the one to release that console. All of those thumbs down are from people who haven't touched Nintendo in at least 10 years, if ever.
