Sorry, but dirt cheap educational prices aren't available to the vast majority of people. You can get 10.6 for $30. 7 Pro costs $265 for me and most other people. OSX is less expensive than most versions of Windows.

Naterm, you need to look again, he DID compare OSX to Professional. OSX costs more than Win7 Pro at my university's bookstore as well. But I got Office Pro there for $20.

Excepting? Mastery of the English language. Companies are more ACCEPTING of Macs. Unlike you, I actually follow these things. Most companies will let you use a Mac as your work machine. They may not buy it for you, but you can use it. Corporate sales for Apple are also way up. For straight business machines, speed is of secondary concern. Most companies buying them are buying Macs because of security issues. Apple is the #3 PC maker in the US market. Apparently you've forgotten that fact. 2S machines are rare. But if you're going to compare the price of operating systems, you do it with equivalent SKUs. OSX is most comparable to Professional. That said, I've owned several 2S machines over the years.

[quote name="Naterm" Bunch of stuff. Company's are no more excepting of mac's then they were 7 years ago. The time and money needed to change over to mac is not worth it. For the price of only a few mac Systems they can get faster PC's Also how many people have dual socket CPU's. like 1 in 50 or less. so having dual socket support is useless. And if your a power user like me who has an SR2 that runs dual chips. Then you don't mind spending money on 7Pro and it's only 144 on new egg. I really don't know why i typed all this. And don't call me some fan boy as typed all this out on a mac pro. as Apples laptops are good.

Lol, comparing Premiere CS3 to Final Cut Express is like comparing Elements to full on Photoshop. Either way, you're really only saying that you don't know how to use it. The only big problem with Final Cut Pro (Final Cut Studio) is that it's still 32-bit as far as I know. That needs to be changed. It's even worse tossing iMovie in there against Premiere, you should compare that to Windows Movie Maker.

What a sensitive little petal Naterm seems to be. I've used iMovie, Final Cut Express, iDVD and iTunes, and found them all 'wanting'. I'm currently sitting with an almost edited video that I cannot add any further audio to. Apple have had my iMac to sort out the problem, all to no avail - they cannot replicate the problem they say, so basically they have left myself and many others floundering with a half finished movie. I can refer you to http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2717520>, if you doubt what I'm saying. It has remained unresolved since before Christmas and Apple appear not to care. I have gone back to my old PC running Adobe CS3 - I am very reluctant to buy yet another copy of Adobe just to download it on my Mac.

The only reason you'll see Windows on a Mac is for someone's work. It's becoming rarer all the time as companies become more accepting of OSX. I've seen a Mac runing Linux maybe once in my life. Linux is even more limited from a software standpoint. You don't have to buy 'overpriced iSoftware', it comes with all of that. OSX is less expensive to buy outright than Windows is. A full version of Windows 7 Professional is $265 at Amazon, the full version of 10.6.3 is $125 with iLife and iWork packs included. Before you whine about Home remember that OSX supports two sockets, Pro is the most comparable Windows version. Next time, have a clue what you're talking about before you post. Last, it's Mac. MAC is media access control.

OSX is expensive and limited Both in software and hardware. Id rather have an OS that lets me choose from a multitude of software and hardware. Then be forced to buy over priced iSoftware. Most people end up dual booting There MAC with Linux or Windows. Because they miss having a choice

Obviously you are biased, because anyone with a functioning brain can see OSX is a better operating system than anything else on the market. The big problem is that you have to buy Apple hardware to get it. If Apple sold it for installation on non-Apple branded, consumer systems (no OEMs) they'd double their OS share practically over night.

I'd beg to differ on two of those four not being crap, but that's just my opinion. I've never used Final Cut or Aperture so I have no opinion on that, but my gut tells me I'd think they were crap because they are for Apple products and I'm biased. :)
