Childish isn't the word I would use...more like idiotic. If the 590 does happen to be faster, these boards will explode with raving, foaming mouth AMD fanboys as to why the 6990 is still the better card. I mean, I am satisfied with any brand as long as it does the job. A GTX 460 in my desktop and a 6550M in my notebook. A companies and product lines success does not hinge on flagship models like the 6990 and 590, but the mid range where the majority of the sales and profits come from. And this past year, AMD and Nvidia were pretty much even. Like I said before, they just need to stroke their imaginary epeens that they think matters so they can sleep at night, for both Nvidia and AMD fanboys.

i'm very curious how they will perform. i always had simpaties for AMD but i also own a Nvidia 560TI now, and is very childish (but fun) to fight for some hardware most of us will not even buy. we'll see...

This is one real nice Card. I can't wait to see how the 6990 and 590 stack up. Some one said the 590 will be faster but the 6990 will be cheaper. And i thinking that may be what happens. But we will see. It's also nice to see that AMD has figured out that a centrifugal blower will provide more air flow with less noise. Also i hope that this comes with 4 DP to DVI connectors.

If it weren't for fanboys I would only have 2 or 3 comments to read. As it is, the comments section is much larger than the article. Keep up the good work!

Too true. 6990 looks to be a good card onto itself, as will the GTX 590. 90% of the people toting the 6990 and GTX 590 won't even buy them, so why does it matter? Are they so insecure that they need to stroke AMD or Nvidias epeen so they can sleep at night? That's pretty damn sad people. I'm just interested in how they will pit against each other, and if it's like all the generations before, they will trade blows. It will come down to pricing, availability and overclocking head room. In my experience, the crowd who buy these flagship GPUs could care less about the wattage or the like lol.

However, as of Catalyst 11.1-11.2 seems we are getting really good side so on processing of the GPU hardware load (to some what the CPU hardware load, although, this depending really much on how well games are coded not on CCC really). The idea how current drivers work compared to the day HD5970 came out we are REALLY much ahead now on Cross-/Tri-/QuadfireX scaling and even a HD5970 functionality than long time ago. AMD seems to start restrict features to HD6xxx only sadly so, if buying this anyone should assume it's old after 6 months unsupported after 12.

Well, depending on price how this goes. As for drivers of this hardware I have to admit AMD/ATI has shown some backbone after the twitter DJ left the building. Although, doubt leaving PR man would do much.
