I am sitting in front of my mother's 3 year old laptop and it is a generation earlier than the core duo they compare it to. its not a cheap laptop either its a dell xps. it's a fair comparison I think, as the laptop doesn't also include discrete graphics to compensate so they were intended to be used for general computing.

Tegra 7 Norris version is rumored to have infinite cores due to the 2 extra dimentions introduced as the Chuck Norris himself helped Nvidia to design this chip. Which of course is totally unfair for other companies. The US government has forbidden selling the chip until 2015 and it remains hidden and strictly used only by Chuck Norris himself and the US army.

The y-axis isn't a linear scale, it's logarithmic. So 'Starks' *is* actually positioned around where 75 would be. Hey, Faud; way to bash someone who wasn't actually wrong. ... what are schools teaching these days ...

Very doubtful that they will fail. There have been no recent attempts at putting ARM on the desktop. With MS now having a ARM version of windows and the huge advances in ARM since the last "desktop attempt" and with a major player like Nvidia backing it there is a very strong indication that it will succeed. 5 years ago, people never really cared about items like "performance per watt". Times have changed.

Actually had a beefy ARM processor been around at the time they probably would have gone that route. The key factor for Apple switching to x86 was that there was no PPC chip out there that could match the bang per watt on their portables. This is why you never saw a G5 in a laptop.

Something makes me think these super fast graphics chips will be for desktop/laptop ARM only. I really don't know what you will do with gaming graphics of that caliber on an ARM computer though. Is any developer even making serious games for ARM? I really hope they don't add 24 cores to a chip and then label it as being faster. Nvidia are going to run themselves into the ground with this whole "ARM on the desktop" pipe dream. It has been done before many times and failed. Even Apple recognizes the importance of x86 for a desktop computer.
