@Naterm I think you are confusing build quality with design. I've worked hundreds of hours on Mac Pros and yes, it's built like a tank and components are ridiculously accessible... But to me, it still looks like something you'd switch on to absorb the smell from a batch of french fries.

Yeah, the plastic designs sucked. No one is going to argue with that. On the other side of the coin, Apple has been using aluminum designs in their high-end products for nearly a decade. A Powerbook from 2003 looks just as good today as it did back then. Anyone who would offer anything but praise for the Power Mac G5/Mac Pro chassis' design either has bad taste (wherez the lightzors?) or have never actually seen one up close. I can think of only a handful of aftermarket PC chassis that come close to the Mac Pro's case in terms of quality.

Design prowess? Why do people still talk about Apple designs as if they were done by Le Corbusier himself? Good design implies something that stays beautiful for decades. I guess most of us got the memory of a goldfish. Have we forgotten the orange colored toilet seat called the iBook? First Gen iPods & iPhones that look like they are a KIRF of themselves? A kitchen ventilation hood called the Mac Pro? Ok, so the Mac Air is quite nice... But the only Apple design I can recall that was AWESOME was the iMac G4 (the "iLamp"). I'd LOVE to see an anniversary edition! (I'm off topic I know, but so's the last sentence.)

That's... actually kinda surprising. Though I think Fusion would have been a better choice for the MBA.
