Btw, I don't really care who copied who, but atm Google has the best search available... Bing brings me shitty results every time, it's absolutely horrible! Google has at least 1000x more results for certain searches than Bing.

I was a web dev a while back... I'm sure of it. That now yahoo is supplied by bing is irrelevant. What makes or breaks a website is irrelevant. You complain about the layout, and it looks just like google's does for quite a few years and now so does bing's. Think of it like poetic justice, bing copied Google, Google copied something back. Also, what else did Google add from bing? I ask because I rarely spend my time on second-rate search engines as bing... when even yahoo seems to be superior, bing-or-not-supported. Is it the side bar on the left, with the quick date/location filters? I noticed bing had something like that but anemic in comparison.

Some of you can't see past the hard on that you have for microsoft to apply simple observation skills. Bing had barely launched and begun to steadily achieve some market share when google re-designed their entire layout to copy that of bing. Your final points don't make much sense, since you claim to be a web designer, you should know that page layout and functionality will make or break a site and that a lot more was changed in the google search page than a background image. How'd you miss that ? in case of Bing and google, Google clearly copied the better design outright. As for Yahoo and Bing, do a little research, It's widely known that Bing provides Yahoo's search service now so the similarity is a given. You sure you're a web dev ? ;-)

@ two clowns above... take a look at ask, yahoo and bing's overall search page style and tell me who copied who? What, because Google added a background image, they copied bing? Then I say bing copied me because a while back I had the same idea, even a better one, which I put into practice, based on location / season / event the background of the site would change accordingly... if it was summer, it was sunny, if it was the national holiday it would have flags and appropriate elements, all automated. Screw bing for copying me! In other fun facts, copying the final data vs copying the layout are two different things, one requires a lot of hard work and thinking, the other one what they (bing's mofo's) have seen in my past web designs!
