As a electrician , transistors current leakage = returning of current to the harddisks , which nearly makes the electricity in the harddisk controller stay static , and that is not good . That will kill the controller of the harddisk , say a WD 2TB .

Um... duh? Don't you think that there would be far more problems far more often if they didn't test these things? This is the biggest chip maker in the world. They can't afford to make mistakes like this, so the fact that this happened means that something went horribly, horribly wrong. Obviously, someone screwed up this time, and that someone is probably on the unemployment line. A company making one mistake doesn't necessarily mean that they're lazy and horrible. Does the fact that they owned up to it on their own before hardly anyone knew there was an issue mean nothing?

You guys do realize that Intel's only downplaying it publicly to comfort investors and that internally, they're taking this very seriously and have probably fired several people already, right?

Its really incredible that stuff like this can happen, i mean do they test stuff before they sell it to you?? Kinda reminds me on Baracuda scenario..., no Seagate in my pc ever again i lost 500 gb of data then, screw the money they give you back, but my music and rest data is lost forever. This was very bad for Intel in my opinion.

Whow am I trying to "save Intel's ass"? I'm not some rabid fanboy that insists you must buy Intel even though they ship defective products. I said, buy AMD or for those that have to have Intel, at least wait a couple months. But a port that stops getting power from your motherboard will not mess up anything plugged into it, it's common sense.

Dont try to save intel ass, and much better dont try to give people hopes about something isnt tru, the sata port leaked electricity and is said this degrade the hard drives. Its like having a constant shortcircuit on the hdd a la Frankenstein, hahaha. I would Laugh a lot trying to set up a server with this thing, after all, according to intel "its no big deal"

Again, it DOESN'T AFFECT THE DRIVES, just the port that the drives plug into. You can take your HDD or DVD drive and plug it into any other system and it will work fine. Yes Intel screwed up and shipped a faulty product but it won't affect your data at all. If you bought one of these faulty chipsets, get a refund and buy AMD or if you really want Intel wait a couple months.
