GDDR5 are quite hot running and consumes alot of power. Agree on the pricing that is just out of control, Palit has a 2GB version if I remember correct for only $20 over a regular GTX560.

Maybe or they just let it stay that high so the fanboys will be like "AMG 2GB !11" Compared to the other phantom card, this one doesnt even look good, the red pcb is ugly.

Thats just how it goes, if there is no competition then there is no reason to lower prices, since most fermis suck, amd is pretty nice with the prices anyway.

there is deffinetly an error or missunderstandi ng about the prices. 1gb or 2gb should not make any difference in costs or end price (like in HD 6950 case - max 20 euro difference). 2 gb version 271 euro (not 371) - maybe.

Considering the fact that AMD just lowered their prices across the board when this card was released, just proved that their cards were waaay overpriced upon release...just last month! They totally ripped off the fanboys...again!!

ram barely needs cooling at all (passive), so how should it make any srs difference ? Specially with a better cooler, 2GB should actually be minimum for FullHD > cards like this but for the price, there are way better options, so its an other fail fermi. A faster 460 that consumes lesser and got a decent price would be much more usufull :/

If the cards needed more memory wouldn't they have it from the start? This is seems like marketing to set them out from the crowd, you will not see any benefit from 2GB over 1GB and the RAM will probably not overlock as much because of the extra heat, not to mention the price premium you will pay for all this.
