I don't know what moron started this rumor that there's no standard AC adapter and you have to use the cradle to charge, but it's not true. It comes with both a cradle and an AC adapter. Nintendo's been in this business for longer than anyone else, so how people can actually believe that they'd make such a stupid mistake is beyond me. Thinking about it, it's probably Sony fanboys and butthurt PC fanboys that started this rumor.

I'm not convinced the 3DS is going to be an instant success. My son and daughter have trouble sharing the one DSi that I bought for my son this year. (My daughter got something of equal value, but not for gaming). Now I need to buy another one as her birthday is approaching, in order to keep the peace between them, but when posed with the question, she would rather have an iPod touch (like mine) rather than her own DS. While the DSi is significantly cheaper than an iPod touch, i would steer her in the direction of the DSi, but if it where a choice of a $250 3DS vs. iPod, the iPod would win easily.

If the only way to play this handheld is strictly with a battery pack and gives you no option to play while plugged into a charger I don't think it's going to be good. If I want to play online or just "game out" for awhile that exceeds the life of the battery I better have a option to plug into a wall or it's just a joke.
