From what I understand, Apple had compatibility issues between flash and their touchscreens, so rather than just take the time to solve the problem, they just said screw it who needs flash.

Sorry, but Apple isn't going to use the Tegra 2. They bought PA Semi and one other similar company who's name I can't remember. They have already designed their own ARM implementation for the original iPad and the iPhone 4. An unsubsidized Xoom looks like it'll command $800. That seems pretty expensive unless it packs at least 64GB of internal storage, preferably more.

/rant Another closed platform controlled by a control freak. Does it have Flash player yet? i don't think so. Sure the build quality is decent and the hardware is nothing to laugh but the pricing just gets ridiculous with apple products and then in less then a year it obsolete. I think as much as stuff becomes obsolete in the tech world Apple is just gouging with their prices and then pigeon hole you with their closed platform that does not even give you the option to have flash. Whats wrong with just not installing flash from the factory and giving US the option to add it if we want? Oh and wait, if it really runs so poorly we can always uninstall it. Hmmmm I guess we have to pay a ton and then be told how to use our products. /rant OK I feel better now

Well, what little has leaked about the Apple "A5" processor is that is is very powerful. Apple did the same resolution doubling on the iPhone with the 4, considering the iPad is physically much larger I don't see power and heat being insurmountable.

2048 x 1536 would requite a lot of bandwidth to be processed. I don't know if there's a mobile chip that would be able to deliver fluent motion at such levels. It would still be pretty neat for pictures and stuff...

If it launches with the display resolution that's been rumored, 2048 x 1536, I'll forget that I ever said I'd buy a Motorola Zoom or other Android tablet. Apple might be the only company I can think of, at least major company, that seems to realize DPI matters. Now if they'd only start making 16:10 monitors and give them insane resolution...oh, and more than one port.
