We can only hope so... the main problem would be getting the right BIOS and not bricking it since from what I've seen dual-BIOS isn't an option anymore.

It seems they initially wanted to release a 6970. That means that probably 80% of 1GB 6950 will be "updateable" to 6970.

That obstacle can be passed if you have relatives/friends in the US...they could ship it to you....idk if newegg themselves ship to Europe, id' love to buy from them but the price for transportation would be too high. So i might as well buy overpriced products from my shitty country.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127555 It says 279,9 $ after mail rebate which equals to 207,94 Euros if i did the math right. Importing this from the US...i have no idea what costs are involved for the customs. As for the 1Gb 6950 i have hoped for smaller prices but once the GTX560 Ti gets out i'm sure they will start a price war.

I usually hate when ppl say "wait for newer drivers" for improvements - but apparently the 11.1 drivers coming down the pipe are shaping up to make the 69xx's quite a bit more interesting (ie- 100% better tess. at extreme in heaven)

This is a bad business move by AMD. They should have released their 6950 with 1GB to 1.5GB in the first place. 2GB is over kill for one of these underperforming cards imo. Was hoping they would have learned from the past and stepped up their game.

Yep, $20 difference is a fair bit less than expected. $30 to $50 would have been more appropriate. $20 savings isn't nearly enough to compensate for the loss of 1GB. The 6870 is priced too high, too, IMO.
