Cartman, Zotak is doing AMD... believe it! At least it has that one PS2. I remember last year all the sales guys saying how PS2 is dead and mb won't have it anymore, but half of their input devices they are selling are PS2. Funny.

Bl0bb3r - I agree, 'specially given that Intel or AMD more or less define the boards' design via the chipset, the OEM just implement. Maybe an OEM adds pretty heatsinks or silly logo branding ("Military class" GB is using lately, gimme a break!) or you know, chooses Marvell NIC instead of Realtek NIC. AFAICT OEM mobo innovation is mostly marketing.

glad to see sapphire taking up the competition with other game mobo producers like msi and asus with special gaming based mobos however, its a tough market for mobos, if you are about to release a mobo and yours will OC less than other brands, you still have a hard time selling it (think about hitting fsb walls on the older 775 mobos.. that could make or break a mobo)

They still are AMD's partner just like any other company that used it's designs. Good move on Sapphires part, though I don't see them touching Nvidia thank goodness...

passmark has it at second: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html what are you on about? x58 is still the enthusiast level motherboard, regardless of the chips you put on it. ofc, sandy bridge, for the price or not, rapes anything put in front of it. i didn't say people are going to be going in their thousands to buy i7-9xx cpus, but that does not change the fact that the x58 are definitely the top level motherboards. compare the top spec p67 to the top spec x58. not many people will be upgrading their cpu from the i7-9xx series until ivy bridge, but they may want new motherboards. technology, especially the SSD tech, is going to move a long way in the next year, and the motherboards need to keep up.

Leading AMD GPU partner in fact, but if they don't design Intel boards, they would be alienating all they loyal customers who prefer Intel processors and AMD graphics ;-) Also, x58 may be 'old' by tech standards but seriously, there aren't exactly any slow socket 1366 processors are there ? just read the review: http://www.kitguru.net/components/motherboard/zardon/sapphire-pure-black-x58-motherboard-review-overclocking-performance/
