You're either basing this on socialist political/economic views, or an idiot. I didn't mean them together, and you know that. It's how capitalism works. Prices are set as high as possible at first and drop either when sales drop or to compete. Deal with it. At least it's not as bad as the x86 CPU market.

No, I am just applying standard competition theory. You say "They drop prices..." Note the plural, it implies collusion. I note also that in your quote of me you dropped an important statement of mine, which was "I say the discrete video card market is an effective duopoly, and I think all the abuses available to two such producers are being made in the discrete video card market.".

They drop prices when new cards come out or they feel that they'd make more money with lower prices. It's about making money. Dropping prices when there's no need to is poor business practice. Could you be right? Sure. But do you have enough, or rather, any real evidence to support you? I don't think so. It sounds more like you just feel that you're being ripped-off and you want the cards to be cheaper

The only way your comment about me makes sense is if you believe that price fixing and wink & nudge cooperation do not happen. The problem you face is this: if they are charging what the market will bear, then whither competition? Either company stands to gain more sales by cutting prices... but it ain't happening. Thus my allegation. I say the discrete video card market is an effective duopoly, and I think all the abuses available to two such producers are being made in the discrete video card market.

@Exodite & others I think it is pretty plain that both AMD and NV charge far, far, far more for that extra chunk of memory or extras few MHz than the chips or MHz are worth. Kind of an Apple pricing model haha. And both companies seem determined to keep the price of the good cards very high. I suspect that there may be grounds for an anti-trust or anti-competitive investigation here, leveled at both AMD and NV. The pricing models at the higher end of performance are very very suspicious and very very mutually beneficial for both companies in my eyes.

The best feature about hd 6XXX is Morphological AA, i tryed it at my friends PC and GTA4 looks WOW , i wish he had Borderlands on his pc... But is still think that AMD could make Morphological AA work on older Gfx cards like HD 4XXX, if it was part of DX11 it wouldnt work on God Of War 3!!
