Back when AC2 was announced, I was actually looking forward to purchasing it, but the one thing that stopped me was the DRM. I refuse to purchase a product with such harsh and intrusive DRM methods while people who pirate the game completely bypass it. If you want to market a game, then why the hell would you ever make the game FAR inferior to that of a pirated version? Go with a method that works, use steam, NOTHING ELSE, just steam as the DRM method. This way your giving people simplicity, automatic updates, automatic and simplified installs, ability to play offline, etc. Regardless of anyone's opinions, steam has taken over and revolutionized PC gaming, and so far they haven't screwed anything up.

Well, I've just had a look at Ubisoft's download site and I can't find *any* patch for *any* game which removes this assinine DRM. Either I'm too stupid or it's just not there. I noticed however that there's a very disparate number of patches depending on your location. E.g. for Denmark you get 3 (yes, three!) patches listed. Two for Dark Messiah and one for Call of Juarez. Switching to UK lists 1.5 pages of patches, while switching to US lists a whopping 8 pages of patches. WTF?!?!

They need to retreat from PC gaming! Why put up with theft? Why? Piracy is a scourge that needs to be delt with, not ran from. When their next game get stolen by the millions maybe they'll wise up and stick to the console.

I stopped buying Ubisoft games ever since they came out with this DRM junk. Finally they've removed a form of this DRM garbage. Now let's hope they completely remove this useless junk. It's stupid and unfair to penalize us gamers for wanting to play games off line and on line. Why hammer us with this DRM crap that targets the honest game buying consumer. If you have issues with Piracy, then deal with it by lowering game prices but don’t involve the honest game buying consumer with this DRM crap.
