Yes, they need more advanced features that have already been mentioned. They also need better hardware. They're not even on the biggest carrier in the US and trying to compete for sales on ATT with the iPhone probably isn't going to be entirely successful. They need phones for Verizon and some really slick hardware to differentiate themselves. It might even be a decent idea for Microsoft to develop a flagship phone like Google did with the Nexus One/Nexus S.

I bought a Samsung Focus the first week it came out, returned it a week later. My impressions were quite good, however, there always seemed to be little annoyances that made me think, "Nope, gotta have that." Give it about 6-12 months and it'll be a great competitor to iOS and Android.

For a 1.0 product, WP7 is incredibly polished, fast and sensitive. The problems is Microsoft needs to be quick with updates.they should have an update every few months, just like Google and iOS. The only issue with WP7 right now is that is lacks some futures and its simply not mature yet...too many little annoying things. One of the issues was IMO that their hardware wasn't superior...if you want to buy a smartphone...if the hardware is identical, every sane person takes an established product. Thats why WP7 needed superior hardware in oder to get some attention and HTC failed bigtime. Samsung was the only respectable OEM at launch.

Add these features and It'll be better: multitasking for 3rd party apps copy/paste flash support Bluetooth file transfers USB mass storage mode Removable SD card* * Windows Phone 7 supports upgradable storage via an SD Card, however it does not support the ability to hot-swap SD cards without having the phone reset to factory settings. In other words, you cannot use the SD for transferring files; it becomes a part of the phone itself.
