I am sure you people have seen the news that a 6950 can be BIOS-flashed to enable all the shaders and bits and pieces - you get a 6970. If you can do the flash (I still have a pair of 4890s, haven't tried it), then the dollar value seems to be the 6950 no? Funny thing about the above is that AMD knows about burning gates - we used to overclock Athlons using pencil lead tracks between contacts on the top of that CPU that set the multiplier. I suspect the 6950 can be flashed to 6970 because AMD wants people in the know to do it instead of buying nVidia. The unwashed masses will never know the difference - but they will probably be buying on bang for the buck not absolute performance. What do you think of this?

My PNY 570s run at 0.95V for the stock 732Mhz. For 850Mhz I have to use 1V as well. The power draw may be higher than the 580 but look at the bright side. You only OC when really needed and it is nice to know that you can have 580 like performance for 150 euros less. This is the case for the 570 GLH really. 1V at 800Mhz=higher power draw than the 580. That's why you get stock clocked 570s and you OC only when needed. The exhaust inside the case is a fail btw. Reference HSF FTW!

What's teh point of throttling? Ask AMD, since you and it are best buddies. *cough Powertune cough*. ANd if you think the 570 is a rebadge, you are truly out of your league here.

It is indeed like a relabeled 480 . With one disabled SM and a few disabled bits of data , and of course a new cooler . But what's the point of throttling again ?
