I do not believe this report. This is just rumur unless proven with actual product. Besides Samsung is not building a gaming ARM powered device so it doesn't need any of tegra.

Well, at least in one quake III test, tegra 2 is about 53% faster than hummingbird, which has a SGX 540, and 53% is a lot. Although, some of that difference is due to tegra's cortex-A9 cores. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4054/first-look-viewsonic-gtablet-and-tegra-2-performance-preview/2 If you have another source, I'd be happy to read it.

The PowerVR 540 isn't far off from nVidia's graphic processor, and the next Samsung SoC will have a better GPU than the 540 so that doesn't really explain the need for Tegra 2's. Rumors are just rumors.

I think samsung is interested in tegra's GPU, which nvidia isn't licensing separately.

Why would you pay X for the Tegra 2 when you can pay Y for your own SOC? Where Y is the cost of manufacturing the thing (and licensing fees) and Y is definitely lower than X. Samsung has proved that it can make excellent SoC's so I really don't think they will need Tegra. nVidia is Samsung's competition in the SoC area so aiding them won't be in their best interest.
