It makes me so angry... everything here in the UK and Europe is so overpriced. 450$ is the same as £285, but add a bit of UK ripoff tax, and it will cost us at least £340, which is £55 more than America will have to pay for it. Sucks. Lets hope good 'ol ebuyer will have some deals on it.

It's $450 suggestive retail price. However, most vendor will likely to sell it for $499. Watch and tell me I'm right :-|

Have to agree with you, but If I had the money, I'd still go 6970, just to see what the air up there is like ;-) likely like the inside of a hot air balloon, but a guy can dream....

C'mon guys... We've said it dozens of times and I'll say it again - the 'new' high end generation won't be a massive improvement over the old. We've still got the same 40nm process and DX11 support - not that much to look forward to. AMD thrashed Nvidia in the last transition, Cypress was on schedule and it was (and still is) a kick-ass card. This time around I just wouldn't buy a 6970 or a 580, no way. They're just not worth the bother. I gotta admit I was a bit surprised by the 570 and 580, they ended up a bit faster and cheaper than I expected. I still believe the 570 and 6950 will be the cards to go for in this generation, they'll prove to be much better value. Both GF110 and Cayman have 3 billion transistors in 40nm and in high-end versions they're hot as hell. I'd just wait for 28nm - there really aren't that many games that will benefit from the extra power, developers have just scratched the surface with DX11.

No not really. 6970 should be 40-50% faster than 5870 or else its fail! Increasing die size and power consumption by 30-40% and not increasing the performance equally then its a complete failure. I believe 6970 will be 40% faster than 5870 in most tests and 2 times faster at dx11 with tesselation.
