It just bothers me that people would use something like currant-limiting technology, a FUNDAMENTAL in electronics, as a negative. Literally EVERYthing we own has this technology in place, yet it's construed as cheating in some way. Look at it this way: if AMD or NV made a super-fast card, but due to it's architecture would overload and damage itself while running folding@home, they would block that software, right? I know I would. Not one single game (what the card is made for) experiences throttling in any way. Laymen are idiots.

Sh*t man, all I care about is L4D DX9! That's *my* favorite game! Gotta kill those zombies, and cooperatively at that! Driving cars on a computer screen!? Why waste your time and money on simulation! Just go drive a car! The visual resolution is so much higher! nVidia and AMD are not even close to rendering on screen the number of receptors and/or FOV in a human retina! As for physics... don't get me started about driving games - when you can actually just go and drive a car for real!

The card still costs a fortune, but to be fair it gets close to the price of some custom cooled&overclocked version of HD 5870 which is not that bad for that segment of the market. Overall it's cheaper than GTX480 and performs on par or a little better than the old card. For those in the market for a high end card this is a good offer. For me, it costs nearly 70% of what i would spend on the entire PC.

nV is desperate to get this out before they'll be r4p3d by the 6900 series. The 570 is a preemptive strike to 6950, but until those are out any comments regarding how good or not the 570 is are useless. The 6950 will have about the same price point as the 570 while the 6970 will be cheaper then the 580. Either way, it will at least be a draw if not a win again for AMD.

Bottom line. Gpu's are getting so hot and power hungry they need to use those kinds of implementation. Thats why 6970 is technically a dual core gpu with many shaders(mini cores) on each of the two cores. Dual gpu will soon be gone and replaced by this method. Nvidia will have to follow suit with this approach(mark my words) just like we maxed out single core cpu's years ago and went to dual/quad.we have finally gotten to that point with GPu's as well. It's all very interesting really ;)

YOur an idiot. The 580 is just too much money so if i was going to with the green team i would buy the 570. 570 is prolly the best card nvidia has right now. Being a 5870 owner since I sold my "decent" 460 I will prolly go 6970 soon. But all in all the 570 is a good card. I just want nvidia to suffer a lil more since there last failed attempt at making home furnaces instead of quality GPU's

Also 40nm yields are finally high so that is why 570 excists and is so cheap. Damn why Amd doesn't drop 6870 to 180$ and 6850 to 130$??? that's because the green jello still isn't a direct threat to the red army as of now...amd is still milking their golden cash cows, until nv can bring out a real gun to shoot em down. see what nv does now? rebranding! yes! oh, so not surprising! covering their watergun in cast iron in an attempt to scare the cows. it's sad that some people are actually dumber than cows.
