F3 imho despite GFX was a disaster. I'd rather see new fallouts in isometric view. That series were about totally other things and they made it a shooter. Innovation can backfire and you can give tons of examples for that, but that's how innovations work. They can work or not. C&C 4 was a disaster. All they had to do is get Tiberium Wars on a new GFX engine (SAGE is long overexploited, bug ridden one) bumping it a little bit. Introduce a few new units and improve game-play a little (not change it entirely), fixed damn lags and desyncs that pissed people totally and they would be very successful. I'd even add they could take on SC2. But EA cut corners as usual. (greed not always pays) That is a shame.

@jklauderdale You are missing my point.Either you did not bother to read or I did not make myself clear enough. Cutting edge gfx is ONE of a few aspects that make of a good game.Wage that you put to it is rather a matter of taste. There is much a point to discuss tastes wouldn't you agree? Moreover, you call BASICS (aka game mechanics, you're getting at)a detail? Either way, the devil is usually in details. It seems we have similar taste for genres. As far as I am concerned I do not actually acknowledge RTS'es nor RPG's for a must have best GFX. Nor they have to be extremely innovative.

*Continued If you want to pick apart every little detail in any given game/genre, feel free. I'd rather take the time I have and enjoy the games I choose to buy. Do they all have to be innovative? No, not if the gameplay/story sucks me in (Sanitarium comes to mind, as does NWN and even Fallout 3). Do they all have to be immersive? Yes, and that goes back to my earlier point that you don't NEED cutting edge graphics to be immersed in a game. Games are something people play to enjoy, please don't attempt to explain how your (erroneous) opinion is superior due to pretty graphics and slapdash "innovation" that can just as easily backfire on you... "Tom Clancy's End War" anyone?

If by hardcore, you mean do I daily spend hours at a time gaming? Then no I'm not a hardcore gamer by that definition. However, having grown up with Ultima and Bards Tale on my old C64 and progressed steadily from there, I think I've played more than my fair share of video games. I tend to stick mainly to RPGs, RTSs and flight/mech combat sims (with a dash of Modnation Racers thrown into the mix these days)...

Bout GFX I will say last time. After playing Crysis tried many other FPSes but damn they were ugly. If you can do nice GFX why not go ahead and do them? It's like if you were manufacturing CPU's You can do them in 45/32 nm processes, but you go for 90nm instead. And you want my money (an arm and a leg) for it. Hell no. What you do with your money is not my concern, but do not tell me there is `so many good stuff` on the market because there isn't as much as one would hope. Unless mediocre is what is enough for you, by all means help yourself.

By that comment I can safely assume You do not grasp the difference between game mechanics and realism of the game. These are separate entities. Imagine playing FPS and not be able to shoot while taking cover or whatever else. SC2 game mechanics is broken. The rest is just fine and I like it enough. SC1&2 were actually those very few games I did actually bother to get through whole `campaign`. All its great but the very basics ;/

@ darage i meant terran unit http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Diamondback I didn't play SC2 for a while, thus I took it for granted you knew in the end what I was talking about. I didn't question its balance. I only said that SC2 is stupid . C&C series take into account that moving units does not actually need you to stop firing. Nor does most of the modern games. For instance in C&C tib wars/ KW exp, micro gives you an opportunity to position your units for maximum damage (different damage ratios depending on angle of attack - directional armor) In SC2 you most of times if you click fast and precise enough you can avoid taking almost all the damage. This is not bout strategy any more but more about being Korean.

100 Phoenix vs 100 Mutalisks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_NcLMb1zpg and yes they do exist in multiplayer. Where have you been? and d00d just because a story could be in the future, and in real life they would fire and move at the same time, but it's a game and a well balanced game at that. Don't like it? Go play supreme commander 2. SC2 gameplay is perfect. There might be a few niggles and adjustments in the future, but right now all across the globe the win rates are about as follows for each race. Terran: 49% wins Protoss: 49% wins Zerg: 51% wins
