@ Eliot Yes i agree, i would never use any overclock that even had a slight hint of instability. I currently run it at 3.6GHz 1.375v and cool, if i bump it up to 1.45v then i can get 3.9GHz, and at 1.5v i get to the magical 4GHz but only not 100% stable and very hot. The funny thing is even at 4Ghz i can only just get under 20secs for SuperPi 1m! Bulldozer where are you!

What difference does it make to get 3.8GHz on boot but freezes on the benches? And yes I tried even a board where my 620 goes 3.7 quite easily. Sometimes you loose, sometimes you win. Fact is the headroom has not improved and I prefer the simple approach. If I need a bachelor to get overclocking done, it's useless. Also increasing voltage to 1.60V or more is not beneficial either. As written it also depands on the board and you can't expect miracles from a value board ;-)

The 3DMarks and Farcry benches are just here to show if there is a difference by choosing an other CPU. In 3DMark there should be none, which is not true.

You don't really pay 10x more ;-) But the problem is in not optimzing either CPU- nor GPU-code and still stuck at 32bit. It's just a few changes to generate 64bit code which may speed up even the worst coded games.

Thx, I have corrected the Testbed, was a copy & paste error I suppose and the editor didn't notice either :-) As said, it depands on CPU and board, results can be better or worse. I would have needed to test this Phenom on this board again and I was late anyways :-( So appologies for that.

If you like the ueber-colored screens, which some call eye-candy and if you like the new explorer, you can do that. Win XP is still fine for browsing and doing all the basic stuff including watching videos. And if you have not noticed, games still run on 32bit code-basis, because game-developers could not be bothered with using the /x64 switch ;-) Of course I don't game a lot, so I can't be bothered with DX10/DX11 either ;-)
