I'd expect there to be more variation for the 460 successor than enabling the 8th shader block. Just as the GF 110 pulled 300 million transistors to reign in TDP -(unless the new stock cooler substantiates enough improvement to negate why the 8th block was originally dis-activated).

Another rebrand from Nvidia fanboys rejoice. You could probably bios flash a gtx 460 into a gtx 560 as it looks like all they doing is changing the bios and the sticker on the card. When will Nvidia release an actual next generation series? This is still fermi 1.0

Hang on a sec.Why is the 460 going to become obsolete just because they are going to issue a replacement.I did not know that direct X12 was that close. As long as any card can do what it's owner wants of it, then it is never obolete.

This is what i don't get about the tech industry. I am pretty sure that the 560 would be cheaper to make than the 460 as they will probably make it a little small and get better yields as they have had longer to work on it and 40nm is very mature now. So why stick with something that makes them less money? Why wait at all? The 6870 and 460 are close in price and performance but the 560 will win hands down = more orders for nVidia. It’s the same with Intel, why take so long to move from 45nm to 32nm, and they are saying that 22nm is pretty much ready and yet they will purposefully delay for another 1-2 years for full deployment. Why? They lose so much money waiting?? I know changes take time but everyone seems to deliberately drag their feet when they could be earning $$$!

@Nerdmaster: AFAIK what you said isn't completely true. Yes it is correct that NVIDIA's chips cost more to produce, as they're larger-->less per wafer. However, I've read on a few sites that NVIDIA gets discounts from TSMC because they order in bulk or something along that line. Therefore, the "real" cost to NVIDIA is pretty much unknown. Besides, there isn't a need for NVIDIA to release yet another $200 card, as the GTX 460 is still competing with the 68xx, courtesy of AMD. So it makes sense to delay it until next year, plenty of time to milk the fat cow that is GTX 460.

OH well just didn't expect to see my GTX 460 becoming obsolete this quickly but then again I am glad that I didn't bother with the gtx 465. Could have gone ati but damn those 5850 were over $300 usd in my area.
