Buy this, then in the future when you decide to go out an buy nvidias latest and greatest.. you could mix them.. thats a situation i could see happening... a yr. or 2 down the road I feel like upgrading and like nvidias offerings at that time.... no problem cause I have a hydra chip on board... and people run into the situation where they have a bunch of odd ball cards laying around, i think with the hydra it doesnt matter which generation or anything... People have been wanting to mix em for a while... google mixing ati and nvid and see how far back people have been wantin to do this...there will be tons... for some reason people that are not fan boys end up with a mix of cards.... i have no clue why though 8)

If you read anything about the hydra chip when they were previewing it... You would know that one card does not bottleneck the other card.. Hydra does something completely different compared to sli/xfire. It is suppose to divide up the work load... So if you have a 5770 and lets say a gtx480 , the gtx 480 would receive more work.. Well that is how it is suppose to work in theory... I think you still see gains regardless..

I fail to see a real situation where somebody HAS a mainboard with multiple PCI-Express 16x slots but doesn't have the money to change his videocard. Or has a videocard and thinks this is better ??! I don't get it. Shouldn't anybody just simply get the 6850 for this money ? I respect Lucid and Power Color for their design and innovation but I don;t find the practical application where you'd need such a device.

You should still only mix and match it with comparable cards, or one will bottleneck the other. It would go well with, say, a GTS 450, but wouldn't work very good with a 480 or a 430.
