Also like to point out that 3dmark vantage scores and other benchmarks of that kind, don't represent the performance in games so they don't mean much, unless you are a benchmarker and purely looking for high benchmark scores, otherwise at 1900 x 1200 you would have a hard time telling once card from the other. but the 6970 looks to be a monster.

480 is going to be send to oblivion next time 6970 appears: Radeon HD 6970 (Cayman XT) 3DMark Vantage test scores in the floating around X12000, on Unigine Heaven (1920x1200 4AA + 16AF) environment setting speed 36.6 frames. With the platform GTX 480 3DMark Vantage access X9309, on Unigine Heaven (1920x1200 4AA + 16AF) speed 29.5. Undoubtedly Radeon HD 6970 (Cayman XT) will be single card King, in the same condition than GTX 480 performance more than 10%, from the test run with repressive power. Game over nvidiots

I was going to buy XFX last night, but it is $40 more expensive than other brands. So I did NOT buy it in the end. Hopefully, they'll lower it to MSRP soon. I don't understand why they're charging more than others. edit: I love XFX, but I'm saying the reasonable thing that they're overcharging. XFX 6870 was at $279 last night around 2AM EST (but now $259 just checked on Newegg). Why am I being down voted? lol Whatever money you save is the money you save.

Backplat, what for? They don't have caps ot memory chips on the back to cool. It would have been just added wight and cost. I find it nice to see red connectors. I wonder why only XFX have opted for them while the rest mostly have ugly whiteish plastics. @Simic, the 6850 sells for $209 on newegg and 165€ on schottenland.
